Ok, so i'm recently having some issues piping with buttercream. When I did my niece's Hannah Montana guitar (see photos) the strings dried up and began to break. I had to re-pipe them the next day just before the party. Now, I've got a spiderman bust all done and I need to pipe the webbing on. I'm terrified! I'm afraid I'll end up with it all falling off. I know you can add a little corn syrup or piping gel to help with piping. Will that do anything for the drying and cracking? I don't know if this has every been a problem for me before, so I'm not sure what the heck I'm doing, but any help will be greatly appreciated. Spidey is patiently waiting to be finished! icon_biggrin.gif TIA!!!

You answered your own question! icon_biggrin.gif Add corn syrup to your icing to prevent it from becoming too crumbly.

Yup- I've added a spoonful of clear piping gel when doing fine piping work. I'll have to try corn syrup sometime.

I prefer corn syrup because it's WAYYY cheaper than piping gel. thumbs_up.gif
