Well, I'm not hosting, since mom won't let me. But she made us all come up with authentic pilgrim food and bring one dish per person over. So I shudder to think what we'll be eating. We are bringing furmenty, sobaheg and stewed pompion. icon_sad.gif

Hopefully there will be something recognizable there....

Well this year my family didn't get together and my BF's family didn't either so we had a nice day at home together with a houseguest home for the holiday.

My BF's only request was Mashed Potatoes and corn so instead of making a turkey (why don't they sell small ones?) I made Homemade Porcupine meatballs and we also had rolls. Then I made RiceKrispy treates for desert.

We had a potluck Thanksgiving meal at my grandparents house and it was unbelievably good! We had:

Ham
Stuffing
Green Beans
Corn
Mashed Potatoes
Broccoli Cheese Casserole
Sweet Potato Casserole (2 kinds)
Dumplings
Yeast Rolls
Sweet Potato Biscuits
Cranberry Salad (2 kinds)
Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Um, yeah, I think that was all. icon_surprised.gif Everything was so good! I can't wait until my stomach is empty enough to enjoy leftovers!!! icon_lol.gif

Well, it was actually pretty fun! Other people brought crumpets, and sweet potato soup and mashed squash, so we had 4or 5 authentic Pilgrim dishes there. I didn't think they would taste good, but everything but the crumpets was actually pretty tasty. So I apologize to my mom (even though she doesn't see this site) for my chef frowny face from previous post!

Okay, I admit that I took the easy road today. We went to see "Happy Feet" and went out to dinner at a local restraunt. I don't like cooking big holiday spreads for the family because it's just DH, the three kids, and myself. Plus I figure if I don't buy it and bring it in the house I won't eat it. The only thing I bought was a no sugar added pumpkin pie incase anyone has a case of the midnight munchies. I'm so bah humbug it's ridiculous.
