Has anyone done a BCT on a fondant covered cake? Would so much buttercream melt the fondant? Does anyone have a similar method of tranfering a picture that won't effect the fondant? And last question....If you do a BCT on a fondant that normally could sit out for 2 days without harm, will the BCT be able to stay out for that long?
Thanks....
I'm still learning...
I haven't done it but there's no reason I can think of that it wouldn't work. You could also use colorflow, royal icing or chocolate transfer and lay that on top if you're worried about it. The buttercream should be fine setting out as long as it isn't one that requires refrigeration for some reason.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...that's a great idea...place something in betweeeeeeen.......
I can't believe I didn't think of that....sometimes the most obvious answer escapes you.....
anyway...how long can buttercream normally stay out? I usually use a 1:1 ration of Crisco and butter.
I'm sorry - i meant to make the picture out of colorflow, royal icing or chocolate transfer and lay that on top of the cake - not lay the bct on top of the other picture. As for leaving the buttercream out - i'm not sure. If I know the cake is going to have to sit out that long I use an all shortening recipe.

It's more of a matte finish. I've made several chocolate transferrs too. They're pretty easy.
Good Luck!
