I'm making a shoebox cake with a shoe on top in a couple of weeks and need some advice on attachng the shoe. Do I attach it before transporting (if so how is it attached so it won't fall off) or after the cake is delivered with a little bit of buttercream? I don't want to loose the shoe before the cake gets to the party but it's going to a office so I won't have much time or space to set it up. TIA

Hi,
I did a Nike sneaker on a shoe-box two months ago. It's in my photos if you would like to take a look.
For my cake, I iced the box, place a dollop of butter-ccream on it, placed the shoe on it, dowelled it and then iced the shoe. It was very firm and steady.
All the best,
Karen

The shoe isn't cake, it is a fondant high heel so it can't really be dowelled. Any other suggestions?

Take the shoe separate. I just did a flip flop on top of a box and it slipped off and broke the band. Live and learn. Good luck!
