I'll never forget (even though I was 14) the first year my sister and BIL was married...they both worked for Winn Dixie (when they were still in business here in KY). My BIL brought home a cake from their work and had the bakery to write of course Happy Birthday Tina for her. She came home.... Seen it......took her fist and SMASHED IT icon_eek.gif SHE was soooooo mad....but you had to laugh at her....the reason was because she had seen it in the case at work for a WEEK icon_eek.gifthumbsdown.gif !! Poor BIL was devasted and my sister was mad FOR A WEEK LOL.

My DH tries his best to cook but just like someone else says he could burn water if that could happen. I haven't had a real birthday cake bought from a bakery for years. I think the last time was actually my 16th birthday and it was delicious and PINK PINK PINK. So this year I am thinking I'd make mine. I love german chocolate with the coconut filling but nobody else does...I might just have to make a little 6 incher for myself thumbs_up.gif

My husband made me a birthday cake the second year we were married...it was a Jamie Oliver chocolate cake recipe (I think Jamie Oliver called it a chocolate pudding) It was TO DIE FOR-- GOOD! That has been the only time he has done that, but I was so impressed...I might have to remind him about that...my birthday is Oct. 3rd!

Cake? People have cake on their birthdays? Oh, I vaguely recall cake on my birthday. Yeah, I think my mother used to make my one. Yep, that'd be the last time I had cake on my birthday...Must be a good 17 years now since I celebrated a birthday at my mom's house and had cake. I heard a strange rumor that people get cards....and gifts??? Can anyone verify this?

If my husband ever promises to make me a birthday cake, I know I will eventually do the cake myself because he will ask me to give him a hand in everything. When he is in the kitchen he moves things around like someone with two left hands. He is just comletely hopeless in the kitchen.

That really is quite a sweet gesture (no pun intended!) I bet he will do a great job!

Usually I make my own bday cake, but this year it came from the bakery where we got our wedding cake from. Dh got the same flavor combinations as our wedding cake (our favorite, even over my own!)

Happy birthday!!!

Happy birthday or happy belated birthday and god love your DH. That cake is great. No Duff cake would be that great.
