Hi everyone,

I love her cakes! Many of her sheetcakes look like she uses a colorflow effect. Is that what this is? I do alot of CT's, but thought this would be a great technique to know also.

Thanks,

Shelly

It's a glaze she makes. It's been posted in Mailbox News a couple times. You can e-mail her. She was very nice and sharing when I asked her about the glaze some time ago. I used it on my farm animal shower cake and the little pig on the first birthday cake in my gallery.

That' what it looks like to me. Funny thing is on like pg 4 or 5 of the pics is a cake with the same picture that is on the shirt I am wearing right now. It's the sometimes you have to put your foot down cake.

It's a technique calle run-in sugar. You make a glaze from powdered sugar, clear corn syrup and water. Pipe your outline and then fill it in with the glaze. I've used this technique many times (see my pics- Strawberry Shortcake, jumping bass, Yoda). Time consuming (for me) but looks great. Another recipe that I have seen uses marshmallow fluff or cream but the technique is pretty much the same.

Is there a recipe for the run in sugar method?

tripletmom, can you tell me what you outline with? I'm sorry if that's a dumb question, just don't know if you outline with the sugar glaze or something different. And if it's with the sugar glaze do you just make the outline thicker than the "filler glaze"? Thanks.

I asked her questions in this thread. I hope you find it helpful. She explained it in detail.
