I made my first batch of MMF today and I was a little surprised that it came out the same yellow tinged color as my buttercream. I would have expected it to be more pure white. I used Rhonda's Ultimate MMF recipe from here on the website. Is there something I could have done that would have messed this up? Thank you in advance for any help you can give!

I have found by using the store brands of both marshmallows and powdered sugar, my fondant seemed off-white. Kraft marshmallows and Domino sugar made ALL the difference in the world. HTH

I used generic marshmallows and generic 10x sugar and it came out white. Dunno what would've caused the yellow tint.

No generics LOL Jet puffed marshmellows and domino pure cane powered sugar and clear vanilla. It makes a big diff. icon_smile.gif

I used generic sugar, but name brand mallows. I did notice before even starting that the marshmallows looked yellowish. Maybe the age of the marshmallows makes a difference? who knows. icon_confused.gif

I usually use "Campfire" marshmallows and C&H sugar for Rhonda's Ultimate MMF and it always comes out pure white. Was your corn syrup yellowy? Or did you add any flavorings that were not clear? Otherwise it must have been the marshmallows or sugar like the others have said.

I use generic sugar, 10x, and shortening... always white. Maybe not bright, bright - but it's white.

Maybe if you are adding vanilla and it's not clear that may be the culprit?

One time my MMF come out a little creamy in color, but it was because I had over heated the marshmellows in the microwave. Could this have happened to you? It still tasted fine though
