I've been a little busy lately and haven't had much time to post so here are some of my latest creations. One was a last minute order. The lady waited until the week of a wedding to call and order a cake for the bridesmaid's luncheon. She wanted something small with brown ribbon and pink flowers and she had the cake pulls to insert into the cake. The soccer ball cake was for my FIL's neighbor. It's pretty simple. And the car was for my son's 1st birthday party. He LOVES cars and wheels. I forgot to take a picture of his smash cake. It was a wheel. It was sooooo funny watching him pick the entire cake up and bury his face in it. Thanks for looking.
Yup..you have been busy...very good looking cakes!
Could you explain a cake pull to me? When do you insert them? What are they? Couldn't they be used on a kids cake too?
Cake pulls are generally done at the bridesmaid's luncheon. I did them when I got married. The bride buys this set of charms (like for a charm bracelet). You can usually buy them at the bridal dress stores. Each charm means something kinda like a fortune. One may be for true love, one for adventure, one for fortune, one for good luck, etc. You then tie a ribbon through the loop for the charm and have them inserted into the frosting of the cake with just the ribbons sticking out of the cake. Then at the luncheon, each bridesmaid pulls one ribbon from the cake revealing her fortune. It's just a nice way to say "thanks for participating in our special day". HTH.
