I collect pedestal cake plates and had promised myself I wouldn't buy any more. But I saw this on eBAY and it just cried out to sit on my shelf. In case you can't tell from the photo it is Santa's boots as the pedestal, the glass dome is his belt, buckle, buttons and the top is a red pom pom. This is made by Patience Brewster for Dept. 56, you may have seen some of her other ornaments and collectibles called Krinkles.
Merry Christmas to me.
Oh, that's CUTE! I can totally understand how it was calling your name and BEGGING you to buy it! Shhhhh, don't tell...I have the SAME illness and hear those little voices calling me to but things too...hee-hee
thats so cute.
I see cake stands like that too & want to buy them but I am totally out of room
How cute is that!!
I have to restrain myself...I am dying to collect cake plates, but I just do NOT have the room to store them. I have 3 but I have to stop somewhere....it could turn into an ugly downward spiral at any time.
Thanks, you ladies are as bad as me. And mocakes I have 22 now with this one. The bedroom in my apartment has built in shelves, now most logical people would use them for bedroom items, right? Not me, they are holding all of my cake plates. I actually do use these too, I try and do a cake with the same theme as each plate as cakes for my family. That way the plate comes back home with me.
If anyone seriously wants one here is another on ebay

Great price, someone better grab it. This is item is no longer being made and I paid $65.00 for mine which was a good price, this is even better.
Looks great and I can clearly see the cake stand was calling your name..."Shirley...Shirley..don't leave me here!!!"...so you saved him and providing a great new home to the poor lonely cake stand...All your others will keep him company!!
Merry Christmas
That's adorable. I now know why I've not been in my Dept 56 store lately. This is waiting for me. LOLOL
I think so too. Even chocolate dipped strawberries would be pretty under the glass dome.
I love that I wish I had money to buy one. My husband would take me out if I bought a cake stand right now (just got a KA) but when the time comes I hope I can find some great cake stands.
Oh there will still be great cake stands out there. You can't live without a KitchenAid, cake plates are just the icing on the cake.
