hello didi5
When I first saw the tenting I was amazed at the height we get (of course, afterwards I did the math (or should I say the geometry) and it all calculated perfectly.
I'm happy to see that I am not the only one not hunting for shipping boxes.
When the box is too high for my truck, I place a sheet of plywood on my back seat, make sure it is level, cover it with no-skid pad & then place the cake on it... I've never had a mishap.
ciao
AThank you so much for the tenting idea! I plan to try it out on my next delivery!
When I have customers picking up their cakes I prefer shipping boxes for their sturdiness. Not a big fan of Walmart, but they do have shipping boxes in various sizes for under a dollar. I cut the side down on a box with a base the same size as my cake board. Then I line the bottom of the box with bubble wrap and put the cake on top, and tape it closed before the client takes it. I too wish they were pretty white boxes, but I do out my business stickers on all sides. You can't beat the price, and I feel better about the cake getting to it's destination in one piece.
Have any of you seen this site. The have tall "White Cake Boxes" I thought some where a bit pricey but if your looking for that it works.

Sometime time back (about 2yrs or so) that question came up and someone posted that they bought packing and/or moving boxes, cut the side open, sealed everything else up and used that for their tiered cakes.
I've had problems finding boxes to fit my tiered cakes, and it sounds like many other bakers do too! I've submitted an idea on Quirky.com and would love to hear your comments and suggestions. Vote and comment here, and we can make this product a reality!

Thank you!

AI'm not a fan of the current design, that's just a rough sketch to get started. I agree with it looking like a home-baker's carrier, and that's not what I want either. Do you think a reusable, durable (not paper or cardboard) carrier could be useful? The way Quirky.com works, once an idea is selected, it is "crowd sourced" to come up with the best functionality and design. I really appreciate your feedback! :)
