Hi everyone, I have a 4 tier wedding cake that I am completing today and need some really quick advice. Here is what the cake will look like:

http://www.absolutelyediblecakes.com/bridalCakesGalleryImages/brideCakes_pic16.jpg

The bottom tier is white with the same pattern, and dragees at intersecting lines

The 12" is pink with the white dots. Should I do the borders on this cake pink to match the cake, or white to accent the dots??? I didn't think to go over that at the consultation. She is a "your the pro" kind of person, so whatever I decide I know she will like. I am just stumped at what to do.

The cakes aternate in color, so the 8" cake would match the bottom one, and the 6" on top is pink as well.

Another picture she gave me with the pink and white scheme had white borders on the pink cake, so I think I may go with that. Also there is no bow or ribbons on the cake, they are using a cake topper that is a traditional piece in the family.

Im so confused, what do you all think. Thanks for any help.

Michele

I think that since she gave you a pic of another cake that had the white border on the pink cake you should do that. If she didn't like that and wanted pink instead, she most likely would have told you.

Either one will look nice. I'm sure you'll make the right decision. The pink on pink and white on white will make it more uniform. Can you post the pic of the all white borders?

I like the idea of pink borders on the pink cakes. And hey, remember, you're the pro--chances are she won't even notice--but it will look great either way!!!

as possible IMO. To much pink would take away from the overall design. Just the right amount makes it elegant. Please post pics when it's complete!!!

Each one is suppose to look like a present. I would do pink on pink and white on white. It will look better I think. I would only do white if you are doing white dots on pink. I think pink on pink makes it a little more grown up.

I think that the picture she gave you would be ok to do the same way style so do the same thing as the pic.

Good luck with what ever you deside to do and please post your pics.

I would do the white. That way, all the borders are uniform in color. Definitely post a pic of this when you're done. Good luck!

These are the colors, and the idea of mixing the two together:

It's the 5th cake down.

I think I will go with the white borders. Thanks you guys.

I haven't had a chance to post the picture, but if you visit my website you can see it in the wedding cake gallery. It wasn't my favorite, as the intersecting lines didn't look right to me. Non-cake decorators don't realize it though and have seemed to love the cake. What do you all think?

It's a little off, but of course us decorators noticed the fine details. I'm sure the bride loved it!

I always use either an impression mat or diamond cutter on those patterns.

I didn't realize they had an impression mat for that. I guess I should have know though, they have one for everything else. You live and learn I guess. I definately will get one for the next time.
