I ran across this blog and wanted to share with my cake friends. Anyone ever heard of a meat cake? No? Well then check it out...

Yes! This is so cool, I have seen this somewhere before but I can't remember where! icon_confused.gif Do you think you'll try making one?

for a minute I thought this was the old George Carlin routine I heard back in the 80's.
Husband asking his wife about leftovers in the fridge.

What is this in the fridge?
What does it look like?
Could be meat, could be cake.
It's meat-cake!
Put it back, I'm saving it! icon_eek.gificon_eek.gif

oh, I've gone and dated myself now.

Yep, I've seen this before. Have it saved to my favorites and am just waiting for the right time to try it! I love the whimsicalness of it!!

There was a thread on this around April Fool's day this year....

It was about making a meat loaf that looked like a cake for dinner,

and cake that looked like a steak (or any orther food) for dessert. icon_lol.gif

My son that is in the Air Force and is stationed at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA participated in an Iron Chef competition with his unit. The ingredient was ground beef and he made the Meat Cake and he won first prize! All he got was a gold painted wooden spoon but I was so proud of the boy! He called me before the competition and was asking about the decorations for the cake and I gave him several ideas that I thought he could do with the few utensils he had in his kitchen. When he was still living in Florida and rooming with his older brother, they used to make this all the time but didn't decorate it. I think it's a hoot! Their younger sister and only girl cousin were disgusted with the thought. I'll have to tell him about using it for the groom's cake!

I've made a loaf pan meat cake, to go with a cocoa crispy meatloaf for April Fool's day. I know the fake meatloaf was in Family Fun magazine a couple of years ago (along with Starburst mixed veggies and vanilla ice cream mashed potatoes), but I thought I was original with the meat cake.
