It is a disaster outside here and I am just about to make my cakes for tomorrow when I notice that I have two different box recipes! One of the recipes calls for butter and the other for oil! Can I make them both with one or the other or will it mess it up!??? PLEASE HELP!!

I would mix it all together and use what ever combination of butter/oil that you have. It won't ruin the cake to use butter if it calls for oil, or oil if it calls for butter.

Hope this helps, good luck with your cakes!!

I would make each mix individually and then mix them together. That is what I would do, even if they were two of the same!

Sorry to jump in and add another question to your post, but this got me wondering - if you replace oil in a recipe with butter, would you melt the butter before adding it to the mix?

I just use softened, room temperature butter to replace oil in cake mixes, no need to melt it.

i would mix the two seperately.... then add them together.
