Pursue it by all means.. don't be that "nicey, nicey" person all the time, although you are.. Some people end up loosing because they are
door mats.. I know you are not one of them otherwise you won't make attempts to get your money for something she robbed you for..

She is a fraud and a liar .. Do you know where she lives ? If you can go to her house, then go. Bring the police with you. This will tell her you are dead serious in collecting what she robbed you for. You have been so kind already, so if anyone will say be kind to her by letting it go, knowing that there are Mother Teresa wanna be's around here, then tell them to kiss your you know what b4 they can go to H@#$ !! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

I use to deal with this when I managed retail.

You go to the magistrate at the court house in your county. You will file charges for worthless check. Make copies as they will either want the original or a copy normally. They will send the sherrifs dept out with a warrant. She will have to go to the courthouse and normally will sign herself out but she will be given a court date and they will notify you of the date.

She has probably passed more than one bad check and you are not the only one that will be there.

In most cases (at least in NC) they will put you in a room with a mediator and try to work out a solution as far as giving her a week or something to pay up. If she doesn't she will be in contempt of court and will have to pay or she will serve time. It is not a felony on $35 but is still a crime. Don't bother with her anymore just do what you have to and let the legal system do what they have to.

If she has moved there are ways to find out where she is. I found someone who did not want to be found last year. If you need any help with that pm me.

Well, she has agreed to meet me today (within the hour) to settle the payment. She better come through or I'm carrying my butt right back to that police station. Oh I'm so mad I'm shaking!

That's great !! I hope you are getting the cash right now icon_wink.gif

It's finally over! I got my money, in cash! That's one more customer that I will not be doing business with again even if she paid up front. It's not worth dealing with. Thank you all for your ideas, encouragement, and kind words. You all are wonderful.

Shipley, I wish you the best in collecting your money as well, don't give up.

Good for you....

If she still fail you this time, tell her you have ALL the time in the world to go to court regardless of whether it is $35.00 or $35,000....icon_smile.gif

Congrats VACakeLady icon_smile.gif So glad this is over for you. From now on don't accept checks unless you are familier with the person paying by check icon_wink.gif
