My niece wants a beachball riding whitecapped waves on her cake. I am not sure how to make whitecaps on the waves. Suggestions?

I have seen some really cute cakes with waves but I have not tried it. I know someone here at CC will have some great ideas.

I used a butter knife blade to make waves, then went over them with another knife blade with white icing, smaller waves but it worked. It's on my photo of the Destroyer cake.

I need to clarify going over the waves again with white icing...just touch the edges of the waves with the white until you get the desired look!

I am new to this forum, where will I find the Destroyer cake photo?

Thanks so much for your help.

When I did my shark cake, I used a thick icing for the blue water and a slightly thinner white icing for the white tips of the waves. IF you want the waves to be high or different heights then I would suggest placing pieces of cake ontop and then ice over them otherwise you will get way too much icing on your cake for the high areas.
I too just took a butterknife and put globs of icing on the cake then used the knife to make the waves then taking the white, just put a small amount on your knife and dab it around the edges of your water peaks

bison7475~ in the text area where I posted a reply there are 3 buttons on the bottom marked: "profile", "pm", and "photos", click the "photo" button and it will bring up all of my photos. You can do this with any members as long as they have photos on here. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your help, the destroyer cake and the shark cake will give me a better idea of how to do this cake.

I am so glad I found this website.

I did waves on both my mermaid cake and my shark cake. I used the underside of a spoon, and applied the white frosting with a sort of rolling motion. I like the shape it made to the top of the waves better than with the knife.

Good luck!
