How in the world do you make gold colored icing? I'm making a Spider-Man cake tomorrow and the web is gold....... does Wilton make a gold color? Or even Americolor? Can you mix 2 colors together and get gold? I'm not really needing it to sparkle like with luster dust....... just need it to pipe some webs. Help, please. icon_cry.gif

americolor makes a "gold" color icing. It won't be shiny, but it will at least give you the general color. If you can't find that, I used to use egg yellow for grad cakes (the hs here is blue and gold) It always worked just fine. Especially if it is for something like the web, no need to drive your self batty!

you can mix lemon yellow and just a itty bitty bit of violet (depends on how deep you want the gold) for your color.

the only way to get a 'true gold' is to use luster dusts.
Otherwise mix yellow and a bit of brown. Not really gold, but as close as you can get w/o painting on luster dust.

This is how I do it too. Depending on what you're doing with it, if you're using icing that really crusts, you may be able to dry-brush on some gold luster dust after the surface dries a bit.
