Help..... does anyone know how I can make silver icing? I only need a small amount, but I have yet to figure out how to make it. I can't seem to find silver coloring. I am very new to this so any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

If you are new to this you may not own an airbrush, but that is how I would do it. Ice the cake in buttercream or cover with rolled fondant. Mix two types of luster dust, Nu Silver and Super Pearl, thin to a painting consistency with Everclear or vodka, use the mixture in an airbrush or maybe you could buy the new sprayer found at Home Depot or Ace Hardware, it is called a Preval and is fairly inexpensive. It comes with a presurreized can of air, a glass bottle that screws onto the can and a tube or nozzle for spraying. Spray your cake in just a light layer the first time and then go back and do a second coat. You will need to stir or shake up the luster dust mixture from time to time, it wants to separate after awhile.

When I need silver I use 1 part black gel to one part blue gel(preferably royal). This makes a silver-gray and if I want it lighter I just use more white icing. HTH.

Yep yep yep, I agree with JoAnn, the black n blue will make a nice silver. but to be a little more specific in the amounts, I use two drops of black and one or two drops of blue coloring (I use the gel colors) this is in about two to three cups of white frosting. Mix together and jeepers ya got bluish gray or silver whichever way ya wanna look at it. LOL.
NOW, if ya want an actual silvery chrome like surface I would follow Shirleys' directions. You can get those lovely lustre dusts from Sugarcraft (at least last time I checked).

I've gotten a silver effect on white buttercream after adding just a SMALL, SMALL, SMALL amount of black icing color.
Add more if you need, but start out with just the tiniest bit of black! Mix well.
HTH!

I think I may have misunderstand the question, I thought you were refering to a shiny silver dusting of color on the actual icing.
