I always undercharge.......but I would probably say about 35 dollars for the cake and extra 5 for filling and another 5 for the butterfly...giving you a grand total of 45 dollars! Like I said probably wayyyyy too cheap...but probably what I would charge.
Love the butterfly! How did you make it?
I charge $30 for a 9in. base cake (yellow w buttercream, no decorations). Then I charge a premium for specialty cakes and specialty frosting and filling and elaborate decoration. I would charge an extra $5 each for the specialty cake and filling, then whatever you feel your butterfly is worth.
Ok, that's how I did it and came up with $75. Here's what I think I will do:
$50 is 2.50 per serving (24), I will write it up as a comped butterrfly as a gift.
Chocoalte Chocolate Chip $9.00
Whipped Cream BC $16.00
Labor $25.00
Decoration (N/C - gift) ($10.00)
Total is $50 ($2.08 per serving)
I made the wings seperately, the body from 2 tootsie rolls, and a "ramp" to pose it on.If you use toootsie rolls for the body, you should cover it is chocolate before you try to add the wings....
I made 4 total pieces and then glued (using chocolate) the wings to the body and set it up in a book to get the angle. After that dried, I put the ramp on the cake and glued the butterfly to it. I also piped a bunch of frosting that matched the cake to cover the ramp and to add a little extra support to the wings. I then covered that with flowers.
I changed my mind....
I am going to charge $46, and comp the $10 butterfly as the girl's birthday present. They invited my daughter tot he party at the last minute. So the actual bill will say $36
Oh, oops! I forgot!! They are chocolate transfers.
