For those of you who have a sunbeam stand mixer, have you ever made mmf in it? The only 2 times i made mmf i did by hand and i think it will come out alot better with the mixer. How do you guys do it? Do you 1st use the beaters and then at what point do you put in the dough hooks? I am having the worst time with dough in my mixer tell me how you guys do it. Thanks.

I don't think the sunbeam mixer can handle MMF... I'd be afraid to try it .. I've done it with a KitchenAid but you have to be very careful with those also .. you cannot over mix even with the KitchenAid mixers ...

icon_surprised.gif NO!! DONT!!

I have a sunbeam & it died icon_cry.gif(then came back icon_confused.gif ) making royal icing. The mixer is NOT strong enough.

I would just keep using your hands. I have a KA now & I would not even use it to make MMF. I am too chicken.

edited cause I can not type today icon_lol.gif

I just got my first stand mixer and its a KA. I am so excited. Anyways I would be afraid to make MMF in there as well. I go the easy way out I just buy the wilton kind that is already done. I have heard it doesnt taste to good but when I start using it I will just mix in the flavor so that way it will taste good. But I am still to afraid to try fondant just yet so I have it sitting and waiting for the day I decide to try it.

I have a KA and have done mmf in it...but I am extremely careful and add the last bit of powdered sugar by hand...that said....I have recently started making the small batches (I am not a huge fan of any kind of fondant...something about the chewy texture so I never cover the whole cake, just use it for accents) and 1 or 2 small batches are so easy to make....(I do it by hand and it just takes a few minutes).

ok thank you all for answering, i wont use the mixer for the mmf. I guess i just need to know what the fondant should feel like because mmf is so soft when i make it and its always ripping. I missed my course 3 fondant class so maybe i'm doing something wrong. I bought some wilton fondant just to see what the fondant should look and feel like and to see if i find it easier to work with. As far as MMF recipes i only tried the easy mmf recipe so far do you guys find that the other mmf recipe on here is better and easier to work with? Thanks again.
