I keep thinking of this when I'm mixing cake batter with the electric hand mixer but I never remember to ask anyone LOL
well today at work (daycare) I was baking a cake and it happened once again so I wrote it down to ask here. Because you all must have some idea:
Why on earth one of the beaters on the mixer looks different than the other. You know at the bottom, the part that inserts into the 2 holes in the mixer? Any ideas? I'm tired - long day- so I'm not into brainstorming myself. Maybe I'll sleep on it lol. For now I'll wait for your years of expertise and probably it's a simple answer icon_lol.gif

Edited to add a bit more explanation: you know, so when you are putting in the 2 attachments into the handheld mixer, you have only one way of putting them in because if you switch, they dont A) fit properly, b) turn properly. Hope that made sense

(and thanks German for the thumbs up- it's gruelling work but I love it!)

Just taking a guess here, but maybe it's so the mixing part of the beaters (on the bottom - looks like a cage) don't grind into eachother.

My mom had a mixer at one time that was the same way and I asked her why they were like that and she told me it was so that you know which one goes on what side. In other words its an idoit proof way to keep from putting the wrong beater in the wrong hole.

I think the bigger one is pushed into the gears for the motor to turn it, and the little one just "rides" along......
Hmmm interesting.
