Does anyone know if Costco sells icing in bulk....Here in Canada there is no Sams but we have Costco!!
Ya know what? I have a Costco membership and while looking around the other day I saw huge tubs of buttercream (including pre-colored), fillings, you-name-it under a couple of the baked good tables so I went up to a gal in the bakery and asked how much one of the big tubs of white buttercream was. she said they didn't sell it to customers!?!?! I was a bit shocked. Thinking I might call the bakery and try again - just can't be. They sell just about anything else.....
It would be quite nice to know there's something prepared for those times when I just don't feel like making icing.
Sams club icing is so much better then the one you make at home but i only use it some of the time....Some people tell me they dont like the one that crusts lol...so then i use sams , though i seem to go through it faster as hubby loves it so much he is allways trying to get me to make him a cake with it lol
Inspired by all the rave reviews (and my general laziness), I went to Sams and lugged one ginormous tub of buttercream to the front registers and then to my car.
Once home, I opened up that bad boy (with the assistance of some power tools) and proceeded to dab/squirt some on a couple of sample slices I had leftover...
Let's just say that it's a good thing that Sam's has a 100% guarantee on their products.. I promptly returned that big ole tub of the nastiest, foulest tasting goo that I've ever had the misfortune of tasting.
I can only hope that for those that love it, it's a different formula than what I received! Guess I will continue making my own.....
Butavan, you can sub your flavoring teaspoon to teaspoon, it's a butter vanilla emulsion and it is wonderful, but DO store it in the fridge, I didn't know that at first.
TC I got my first bucket of Sam's bc and not sure what to think of it...I DIDN"T take it out and put it in my mixer...I've already got the cake done that I used it on also. Will it be ok? (I have already iced and decorated I mean)
It doesn't taste like my homemade but I am sure it will taste totally different on the cake right?
It's fine
I just always mix mine up because there is usually grease at the bottom of the bucket. I try to mix it up while in the bucket then put it in the mixer for a few minutes, just to make sure it's mixed really good. I do think there is more grease then homemade icing. I think the cake will be fine ![]()
Your welcome~ I know what you mean! I like my icing too, I'm just too lazy at times to make it. Well actually I started using Sam's because I get pneumonia everytime I make my own. My Doc says I'm getting dust from powdered sugar in my lungs. Cocoa Powder does it to me too.
I started wearing a face mask & I still get sick!
So for now I'll stick to Sam's. ![]()
