My First Wedding Cake

Just wanted to post a pic of my 1st wedding cake. It was Lemon cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. I was really hard on myself but everyone kept complimenting me on it.

It is simple and beautiful! I think we are our own worst critics. I have yet to do a large cake and I know I will just panic. Yours looks great and I am sure you deserved every nice comment you received. Pat yourself on the back from me.

Oh my goodness yess. I was thinking how I am sooooo not a florist. The cake was a wedding gift though so she had no complaints.

I think it looks very nice! I used to feel like that too...but now I actually like putting flowers on the cake. Simple arrangements like yours make the cake look very elegant.

I actually felt no stress until I had to stack the cake. I baked them earlier in the week and froze them. Then I had plenty of time to decorate. I was frustrated when I had to stack them and the stupid dowels wouldn sink.

Stacked cakes can be stressful especially when there is more than 3 tiers. I feel like I can never get the tiers centered right!

You did an excellent job on the basket weave. Not an easy choice for your first wedding cake.. It takes a steady hand for this and all three tiers too. GREAT JOB!!! keep up the good work.

Beautiful job on your first wedding cake. I love basket weave on cakes, if just only my hand would not shake as much, I would have some of my cakes with basket weave on it and not wiggley lines going all around the cake or whichever way my hand lets it go. Keep up the good work.
