OMG, are you kidding me. Though maybe they are targeting other countries that cant get this stuff. I have a friend who just went to Italy and his friends wanted him to bring crunchy peanut butter b/c they cant' get it there. Maybe its a case like that.
Should we give them the benefit of the doubt?? thumbs_up.gif
Just dont know for sure.

I just bought 24 cake mixes for $0.15 each at the grocery store. Why on earth anyone would pay almost $5.00 for one is beyond me.

What possesses some people to do this? With shipping, that's $10 for a stinkin' cake mix! icon_eek.gif And you have to wonder, if people are brass enough to sell things like this, are there really people dumb enough to buy them?

Wait! I can answer that! A while back our local radio station just across the Iowa border into South Dakota listed "South Dakota air for sale" on ebay just for kicks. This was a huge week long deal and the DJ's had a riot with it. They went on to describe in the listing that it was a radio stunt and that they would put SD air in a Tupperware and ship it to you. It went on to say that there was in fact NOTHING IN THE CONTAINER! Just air. That's it. Essentially nothing. Nada. Zip. Some idiot bought this for over $200! For air!!!!! Hello!! OK, I'm sure it was a very nice Tupperware container....... icon_confused.gif

Vons!

Betty Crocker cake mixes are Buy One get one Free at $2.30 and if you buy 10 baking products from a list (BC cake mixes included), they give you $10 off of your order.

I ended up with 24 cake mixes, 4 cans of chocolate frosting and 2 5lb bags of flour for less than $5.00

I guess we could then make a fortune selling cake mixes that we buy on sale then!

It saddens me to say that this person actually lives in my state!!!

Boy, that is one cracked nut icon_eek.gif

I looked at all of the items they have for sale and found one even better--how about $8.99 +$5.55 shipping for 3 BOXES OF JELLO !

http://cgi.ebay.com/JELL-O-Lime-Watermelon-Grape-American-Treat-3-boxes_W0QQitemZ220046110890QQihZ012QQcategoryZ14314QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Let's see--that would cost me about $1.59 on a bad day at the grocery store.

I don't know what niche they're trying to sqeeze into--the only thing I can figure is that they seem to emphasize "American" in their listings, so I think they're trying to capture a foreign market that's enamored with the USA icon_confused.gif

I'm going to watch some of these to see if they sell. They talk about sendng "freebies" with each order, and coupons for future savings, but it sounds like a line of hooey to me--either that or DH, BC, and the Doughboy are really missing a big cash boat!

Thanks for the chuckle!
Rae

I'm guessing it's for people overseas. When we were stationed in Germany we ate alot of Nutella because my parents didn't shop at the commissary much and peanut butter is hard to find and expensive in the stores there.
It's just like a European toy is to us, we can't get it here so we're willing to pay more.

Yikes!
Mind you, I pay $2.29 Canadian for Duncan Hines mix...which with today's exchange rate would be about $2.05 US.....and considering I bought some for 82 cents at Walmart the last time I was in Grand Forks, I'd say we're getting raw deal up in Canada! icon_razz.gif

I have gotten them for as low as $1.25 and when they are...I buy everything. When the grocery store puts them on I do the same.If I am in a pinch they are usually about $2.00-$2.25 each ..Ouch!!!

Find a friend or relative who will FedEx it to you. I ship Cherry Bing bars to my SIL once in a while because she likes the Palmer brand they make in Sioux City and she can't get them other than stocking up when she comes home. It's a lot cheaper than ebay!

Wow...time for me to go to the pantry.
May have some stale chips in there.
Outta be worth at least 10 bucks! icon_lol.gif
Can't help but wonder if this would only appeal to someone who lived in the deep woods of Alaska or something.

That person is losing money. It costs to list items on eBay, and if nobody buys it, you're out. The higher your starting price is, the more it costs to list. The person is probably losing .25 or so for each auction that nobody is stupid enough to buy.

I saw someone sell an empty Suave shampoo bottle once for almost $20! I couldn't believe it! I don't know who is dumber...the person trying to sell it, or the person buying it! Also saw someone in Alaska selling mean messages to anyone you wanted in poop from his team of dogs. He would collect the poop and write the message pretty large in the snow with it...take a picture of it, and send it to you for you to pass on! Crazy!

Yep, it was empty! Her boysfriend told her he would clean the house if she sold it for $10 or something! There is actually a weird category on ebay. Maybe I could list a boob job and get people to donate? I've also seen single toothpicks sell for $1 a piece...free shipping of course!

Well, I tell you if I am not mistaken other people from other countries shop EBAY. I know that in some countries they don't sell cake mixes. I know this because a friend of mine is a missionary and one things she ships back to herself is cake mix!
