Fiskars makes texture plates to create textured papers, foil or clay. They work wonderfully on MMF and crusted buttercream. I found the assortment package on sale for 50% at Hobby Lobby last week and it includes blossoms, honeycomb, braids, basketweave, carpet, rug, music notes, lace, critters, leather, paws and foot and hand prints. The imprints make a suttle design on the cake or MMF trim.

The different sized embossing tools work great too. They have very small tips on them so they're great for little details.

I recently got some of those fiskars plates! I love them!!! I used them for my quilt cake to get all the different impressions for my quilt squares. They only had a couple different sets at my Jo-anns, so I'll have to look for the other ones and those embossing tools too.

I use the paper punches. Micheals has them for $1 each. All kinds of designs. You just paint wafer paper and punch out the designs and you have edible confetti for your cake!

I use the paper punches to cut thinly rolled gumpaste! The snowflakes on this Christmas plaque are done using a paper punch.

Wow! Thanks GIAcakes and socake!!! That is a really great idea to use paper punches. I'm definitely going to be checking them out at Michaels soon! It's nice to be able to combine hobby supplies, LOL. I also use a lot of my quilting supplies for cakes, esp the clear rulers. ....now if I could just finish my boys' two quilts I've been working on for more than a year! icon_redface.gif

It's great being able to combine craft equipment...I thought my card making stuff was redundent....but I used a large background stamp to do the board on this cake.
