I found their website recently and I'm tempted to order the downloadable book to learn some new tips and tricks, but I wanted to see what the more experienced decorators might think about their product.

If you've ordered it or know anyone who has, let me know what they thought of it, please.

Here are the links to what I'm talking about.

www.cliksecrets.com or www.CakesMadeEasy.com

thanks!

I am also thinking about ordering their ebooks and videos. They have a money back guarantee, so I would be very interested in anyones opinions. I have joined their email group and get tips from them all the time. What I have seen so far has been very helpful.

Just to let everyone know, I got an e-mail from MikesCakes and it had a link to watch a short demo and stupid me opened it and BOOM virus. I am having to use my sons computer when he is not on it until I can get mine worked on. My computer tech says I will have to have my hard drive completely wiped out. So there goes four years of recipes and cake pics that I have saved and worked so hardicon_sad.gif

Same thing happened to me recently- a virus killed my hard drive- all data lost! Those were the worst words to hear- ALL DATA LOST! That was many long hours of research/ info/ recipes/ photos/etc. I hadn't backed anything up in about 4 months- and even then I just saved the basics. Hard lesson to learn! I back up EVERYTHING weekly now! Good luck with that!

He said he might be able to save some of the data(my recipes and some pics) but just not sure yet.And I kept putting off getting a CD burner for my computer to put my cake stuff on, only wish I had of done that months and months agoicon_smile.gif

I would be stay away from them, spend your $ on a really good book, how to dvd or a course - those types of things like to all sorts of viruses, spam and only who knows what else. Goodluck!

I have ordered the ebooks. As a beginner I really like them. I haven't had the virus problem but I noticed that emails from them come over at [email protected]. The lady in the videos explains techniques pretty well.

Off topic I know but I had to add my computer imput lol.

I've been working on computers off and on for about 7 years now and have saved my mother's computer many a time from my brother and his nasty trips on the net and the many many virus' she's had on her computer.

The best thing I can offer is ONCE A MONTH (I know often but is better safe then sorry) make a back up of all documents, pictures, notes, etc. onto a diskette or a CD if you have a burner. I bought a removable storage devise from walmart for around $15.~ it plugs into my USB port and I can save MASS amounts of info and files on it. When ever I have to something important like a new price list or something like that I make sure I save a copy of it to my "Flash drive" that way if I need to I can just take it upstairs to mom's computer plug it into her USB slot and print away lol. icon_wink.gif Hope this helps with future lost recipes and pictures.

Also I have 2 digital cameras, one was a cheapo under 100 bux I handed down to my hubby the other is my new Kodak Easy Share w/ Printer Doc. I bought an additional memory card for it for about $30.~ at Staples also found at Walmart and I just take pictures until my hearts content lol. Currently I have room left for over 1000 pics and have about 200 on it currently. When one mem card gets full I label the little snap shut case with dates and the word CAKES in caps and file it away for future need. It gets costly but hey I feel it's worth it. When you think about what you're losing because some jerk sends you a virus and how much you have to pay out to have it repaired and still don't get your recipes and photos back I think $20.~ every 6 months is worth it!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Hugs and HTH!

I haven't bought the e-books, but the instructor in them is my Wilton instructor. I must say that she is a great teacher, so she would probably be pretty good in the e-book too.

Yes I bought the books. I bought Volume 1. It has been informative. I wish that I had gotten Vol 2. It covers more actual cake decorating. Volume 1 has alot about baking. If someone didnt already have that covered it would be very helpful. The videos are neat though. You can watch them over and over again. If you already have basic cake decorating down I would get volume 2. And you get alot of free stuff also. Recipes, resturaunt recipes, ect. The girl is good at it. icon_smile.gif

I've been getting emails from cakesmadeeasy for months and have never had a problem with them.

Once I even sent an email off with a question and they actually answered it in one of their newsletters!!

I got the Cookies Made Easy and I like it. It is informative as to Bouquets. I was wondering who might have got the Cake E Book. I think Ill Get the Cake One now that I know others have gotten it and it was OK. You can also get it on disc for another $20 dollars. Thats good if your internet service is slow. You can just pop in the disc and go. Do you all have the EBook or does anyone have the CD'S?

You've made six posts here, MissTaz, and they're all--every single one, across several topics-- about how wonderful Cakes Made Easy is. What's your connection with them?

I have no connection- apart from being a customer.

I've spent some time trawling through CC, looking for help on decorating birthday cakes and I found some awesome advice from people and just wanted to help others as well but this was the only topic I felt able to help people with as I dont know much about cake decorating yet!

Sorry if I have done the wrong thing

MissTaz,
I don't think you've done anything wrong. Your input is as important as anyone else. I do have the CD's on cake decorating made easy. I also highly recommend them for a beginner..that is learning cake decorating. Especially if you don't have access to any classes..Miss Taz is correct..in what she says. and i don't have anyt connection with Cakes Made Easy either..other than being a customer, but I know good when i see it.

Of course her input is important.

But when a new poster has enthusiasm --not just one post but many-- only about something that's for sale, and on nothing else, usually that new poster is trying to sell whatever it is that they're so enthusiastic about. And this new poster was six for six.

If I'm wrong, I apologize.
