Dye Safe For Cakes When Used On Artificial Flowers

I have decided to use artificial flowers on a wedding cake...the problem is I can't find turqouise and almost hot pink roses. So my question is can you use anything to dye them the color you want? I tried food dye and it didn't work out too good...maybe I didn't do it right. ![]()
I've only used food coloring to die items to go on a cake. Even painted a wooded train with it to put on a cake.
Good Luck

What kind of dye and how did you do it? I may of tried doing it wrong.
I used the liquid food coloring - it comes in regular and neon colors - and painted it on. If that isn't bold enough you could try diluting gel or concentrated colors mixed with a clear alcohol to paint with.

I've read both alcohol and extracts. I personally use alcohol - it doesn't leave a flavor behind.

Thank you! That's what I was needing to know ![]()
