I have been trying to make the gift box bow however it is not working all that great. I need to know how long in advance I need to make the loops. As well as how to put it together properly. When tried they kept breaking the bottom levels.

Help! I need Help!

I make the loops several day (weeks if I think about it) ahead and wire each one. Then I just stick them where they need to go.

Are you just using fondant alone? I had this problem when I tried using only fondant. When I mixed fondant with gum paste, they hardened great, and I didn't have any breakage.

I've never heard of wiring them. How do you do this? It sounds great!

I tried that glob of chocolate thing years ago once--once--and quickly changed to the wired method.

As with working with wire on any gumpaste/fondant item, make a tiny hook shape at the end of the wire and moisten the hook end. It should not be wet, just moist. Place the hook end of the wire beween the ends of the loop and let dry. I cut the ends hlding the wire to a point. I then place the loops on a plastic dowel with the wires pointing downward, suspend the dowels beween two water glasses and let dry. Obviously this should be put in a place where it will not be disturbed.

I dont like drying the bow loops on their sides, as I think it distorts their shape.

following the cakeboss tutorial, let the loops dry enough to hold their shape, but not till they're totally dry/hard. You will need a little flex to place them tightly together.

Thanks everyone for your help. I like the idea about not drying them too much so you have a little flex. I will use a little of everything and let you all know how it turns out
