Hi everyone,
So, I just finished making the topper for a cake I am making tomorrow. Here is what the girl wanted for her boyfriend's cake: an old school pin-up girl with stockings and garters showing. This is what I came up with. I have no idea if it looks okay or not. Any opinions you have would be so appreciated.

just FYI: The rest of the cake is going to be 2 tiers, the top will be white with red stripes, and the bottome will be red, with a few framed fondant pictures of old school tattoos (ie- heart mom, anchor, ect)

This was a strange request...

That is indeed a strange request! Though I must say your girl really does look so cute!!! Great job. I sooooo wish I could make decent figures but so far it is definitely not my talent. Love the CURLS, the do-rag, the pearls, the outfit - it is all so cute!

The only thing that doesn't quite hit me right about your girl, if I had to pick something, though, are her eyes. They look like they are black with a white pupil instead of white with a black pupil. I suspect that you just made the black part of her eye quite large and so it nearly covers up the white, and that the other white part is meant to be reflection. Just in the pic, I can't really see that for sure. I think making the black part a little smaller so more white shows might give her more character, kwim? IMHO eyes are the most important part to give a figure some personality and expression. I say that only as an observer of the figures I have seen others do on CC though - I'm a very lousy figure maker myself!

She really is adorable, I'm sure your customer will be THRILLED!!!

Love the pinup! GREAT JOB! I was just thinking of doing an Old School tattoo cake for my BIL (who is a tattoo artist). That just goes to show that there really aren't any "new" ideas out there! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I CANNOT wait to see the end result! Please post pics!

I think she is just adorable. However, I am not sure I would have known she was a pin-up girl unless you told me. Maybe she needs to be sexier somehow, maybe more cleavage? Maybe the ruffle around the neck could go more around her shoulders for more seduction. Anyway, she looks great. JMHO icon_smile.gif

I wish I could do that!! All I have made so far is a frog. I love your girl. The only thing that stood out to me was the arms look bigger (chunkier) that the legs. Love the face.

That is adorable! I didn't guess pin-up girl but I see it now that I read it (looked at the picture first). I think that maybe it could use a bit more cleavage. It's probably too late to put a provocative look on her face...

For such an odd request, I think you did a great job! I love her face! Not sure I would have guessed pin-up girl though. I think the white ruffle around her shoulders is "matronly".....kinda reminds me of my grandma.....maybe remove it and add a fuller bust....that would scream pin-up girl! But I think she's adorable.....they'll love her for sure!

I think she is adorable! I wish I could do a figure half that good. If she is supposed to be sexier, I would agree with Cambo to maybe remove the ruffle around her shoulders.

I agree, get rid of the ruffle and make her arms less chunchy if possible. Other than that though she looks awesome... great job!

When I think of "pin-up girls" I can only think of Betty Grable....... showing my age, perhaps !? icon_lol.gif
