Hi guys,

is there anyone else out there who's had a problem with seperating buttercream icing? I left some in my pantry for about three days and when i took it out this morning, i noticed that there was a yellowish liquid in some places.

the icing is regular Wilton icing made with almond and butter flavoring.

i've never had this happen before and i need to use it to make a cake tonight, PLEASE HELP!

The last batch I made did that. I just assumed it was from the extremely hot summer and drought we're having here. I just stirred it real well. It tasted and worked fine, though.

I had this happen when I took b/c on a car trip. After a 16 hour ride in a cooler, it separated a bit. I was able to mix it well and it worked and tasted just fine.

thanks sweetcakes, it has been hot here too.
Really strange thunderstorms that caught the weathermen off guard too. So, it is about 103 with rain and humidity.

Fun, fun, fun thumbsdown.gif

Wilton's BC is nothing but fat, sugar & liquid. Fat & liquids do not mix well. That is what caused your seperation - the liquid has unmixed (is there such a word? hehe) Just a good re-mixing & it should be o.k. to use.
