So, I have a cake order for tomorrow. A 3-D Ramone Cars cake for 30 people. I baked my two 11 x 15 cakes yesterday (which according to a few charts should be plently) and I'll start on it after I go to the movies tonight (yes, I should skip the movies, but I to go out.) Anyway, I get a call from the lady confirming (she ordered it about two weeks ago), so I told her yes. Then she asks if I can make it for 40 people instead. Now I know the 11x15 could be enough (I cut big slices, so I take that into consideration when doing a cake), but tell her that that's fine but the price will go up $5 (yes, I know it should have been more, but I had to think on my feet.) Well, when I told her the price would go up, she said never mind to just keep it at what we said.
I'm totally not complaining or bashing - she actually been VERY nice and my sister got business from her as well - but I just thought it was interesting that she probably didn't expect me to say that the price would go up and thought I'd share.
it's amazing to me what people expect for certain prices. she really shouldn't have been surprised at all that a cake for more people would cost more money!
What-ever! 10 additional servings, sculpted cake, for $5!! And she declined?!?!?!?! That's 50 cents a serving!!
Again. I repeat. What-ever!!
Wow...she wouldn't go for the extra $5? That's really odd.
Oh well...maybe she is just really good at holding to a budget. ![]()
How much are you charging to begin with...just curious...can't wait to see a pic!
