Hello! I'm new to this forum, and actually new to all of this cake stuff. I've made lots of cakes before for small parties, and recently I've been doing large quantities of cupcakes for weddings. Well, I just got asked to do some sheet cakes for my friends wedding. She wants chocolate sheet cakes, and carrot cake sheet cakes. I have great recipes for them, but she needs 250 servings. I've never made anything bigger than a 9x13 before, but I'm thinking maybe I should get a bigger pan. Does anyone know what size pan I should use, and how many cakes I'll have to make? Do I need to get the thing called a heater core? Do I need more than one? How do they work? Do sheet cakes typically have more than one layer? Any insight would be glorious!!!
Thanks!
Angela
i do full sheet cakes for the military and school functions quite a bit. you can either do two 12x18x2s and put them together...no heating core needed, or you can do 4 9x13x2. they both make a full sheet. you will need to stack the cakes for that many. i'd do four 12x18x2 and stack them.

Thank you so much! I know that this probably seems like a dumb question, but I'm not so good at math. Do I need to find a cake board that's 24 by 36? Do they sell them that size? Thanks so much for your help!
