What the best way to secure the gumpaste handle onto a purse cake? I am so afraid that mine isn't going to stay. icon_eek.gif

I'm afraid I am not much help, I have only done 2 purse cakes and one was buttercream. The one I did in fondant though I just cut slits in the fondant where the handles would go and then poked it down into the fondant and into the layer of buttercream. It seemed to stay in place good enough. The problem I had was that it hadn't had enough time to dry so the middle of the handle sagged and cracked. Luckily they wanted the number 30 standing up on the cake so I had to prop the handle on top of it! My best advice is to just attach it with buttercream. Good Luck, hope someone else has a better idea!

How about working a wire through the handle and then inserting the two ends down into the cake...someone had a thread on here about it not to long ago, that's why I'm so smart!!! icon_biggrin.gif
