ok, first of all.. no it didn't. but... you all know how addicting this forum is?! well i had put water on to boil (ok, can already hear all the eyeballs rolling!) and came in here to check messages while it came to a boil. OF COURSE I got engrossed in the new posts when it occured to me, as I'm reading how to boil sweetened condensed milk into caramel, boiling? boiling? HOLY %$#*&^@! I ran to the kitchen and found my water totally boiling over. I am fortunate. I have set a new rule for myself... never check messages unless you have at least 2 hours to spare AND NOTHING ON THE STOVE! lol!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

HILARIOUS!!...only because everything turned out OK icon_wink.gif
Actually I can totally see myself doing this, so thanks for the warning. Oh, and my hubby just complained about me being in my "cake world". Really he's been complaining all afternoon - what's wrong with me!!!

I did the same thing BUT the pan was dry when I found it. The smell was what alerted me to my peril. I don't leave the kitchen to "check" the computer anymore!

Thats funny only because just this morning I put two eggs in a poacher to boil and check my mail. You guess it. Way over cooked. I caught it just before it burned. Not a great smell first thing in the morning. The dogs enjoyed it anyway. I don't think I will be doing that again.

I've done this, too. Last week, I was baking my cake and almost forgot about it. When I did think about it, I ran into my kitchen and checked and it was perfect!! icon_smile.gif There will probably be the day I will come and find a black cake crisp in the oven!! icon_wink.gif

If only I had a laptop right there beside me while I'm decorating my cake... icon_lol.gif No-that wouldn't work-need both hands to decorate cake. If only I had more than 2 hands... thumbs_up.gif

I know what you all mean. I sit down for a minute just to check something and when I next surface for air, husband and three kids are in bed and it is the wee hours of the morning!

That is why I am moving my computer to the kitchen! Since I look up recipes and stuff it can be considered a kitchen tool!!! Made a small area for desk so I can keep an eye on stuff cooking and since kitchen is in center of home I can also monitor everything else if I get engrossed on computer. Course now they will know how much time I spend on-line!!!
