Hello! This cake gave me a royal fit!!!! But the end result was wonderful.
This is my FIRST time officially covering a cake with fondant. I have done sculpting with it before but never covered a cake. And what a nightmare!!!!!
First of all I think that that the fondant was too dry and it was hard to get it nice and smooth and then to cover the cake. I had tares here and there and some ripping. And because it was a bit dry, it was hard to roll out as well.
Anyway, the top tier, I had to remove the fondant, and do it all over again.
Oh, well, at the end it came all together, but I wasn't happy with it because I thought that, that is not what a cake covered in fondant is supposed to look like.
Well, here it is. Everything is made of fondant, except the borders.
Oh, top tier is Trible Layer Devil Food cake with hazelnut buttercream YUMMY!!!
Bottom tier is vanilla/almond cake soaked in simple syrup and also hazelnut buttercream filling!
