Yes, I made a pumpkin recently for my cousin's kid's birthday. It's a lot harder to ice a 3D round cake than i thought it would be! (I'm new at this) I thought it was a sloppy mess. Everyone else said it was cute. Either I'm too hard on myself or they were just being polite!
Have you ever had a sheetcake in your hands (complete with candles and everything), ready to sing to a coworker with the rest of your coworkers, slide out of your hands onto the corner of the desk then bounce right in the trash can?!
No, thank goodness, it's hard enough just to get it there!
Have you ever forgotten to get all the ingredients for you icing and had to stop everything to run to the store?
YES!!!!!!!! I actually gave a recipe book my sister made for me, our mom, and our Grandmother, to my MIL and she has never even looked through it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello, I would have given it to my best friend of 23 years had I known my MIL wasn't going to even open it!
She won't give it back either because "You gave it to me!"
Have you ever had so many cakes to do in one week that you actually baked the wrong flavor of cake for on of the occasion?
Yes! I felt so bad, but the bride liked the mixup better so someone was watching over me!
Have you ever bought a cake at the store and iced and decorated it and called it your own?
No - but I have bought a piece of cake from the grocery store, brought it home, taken the frosting off and refrosted it with my own so I could eat it.
Have you ever had the electricity go out in the middle of baking with an electronic ignite on your oven and ended up with warm cake batter?
No, thankfully.
Have you ever baked and decorated a very large cake two weeks in advance?
Michele
No - but I wish I could! How does one do this?
Have you ever dropped an egg on the floor and still use it?
Yes, when the children were young and we went camping I used to bake in a cast iron pot. Apple Betty and pineapple upside down cake.
Again, do you bake naked or in your underwear?
Nope, but will defrost something in the freezer to use up some leftover cream cheese or chocolate frosting.
Have you ever delivered and set up a wedding cake 35 miles away only to discover that the customer's topper is still at home?
Yes - for my stepson at our house! Luckily, I had some leftover long skinny cake candles that I was able to use - I put 2 for his 11th b-day.
Have you ever outlined an FBCT, gone to get the another bag of frosting and come back to find that your cat ate most of the outline?
NO,but I have offered to do my Niece's wedding cake and can see it going this way.
Have you ever mixed up cakes, meaning sent them to the wrong occasion?
No, but that give me an idea. There's always TGIF holidays. They have one of those every week.LOL
Have you ever decorated a cake for a customer, only to find out that she brought it around to show all of her friends for two weeks, because she did not want to cut the design?
Yep! I've lost LOTS of recipes (box opened in move) and had to find something that sounded kinda the same.
Have you ever compared life to flavors of cake? IE, "that was as good as a 5 Alarm Chocolate Cake" or "that was very refreshing, a lot like raspberries"
... and then pictured the cake you would make based on it?
