I think it's time we experiment with turtle brownie balls....ok, that name sounds gross.

I put heath toffee chips in some chocolate cake balls recently, with some hazlenut creamer to bind it all together. Sprinkled heath bits on top of the chocolate coating, too. Tasted DIVINE, but the toffee bits inside the balls melted. I suspect the same thing might happen to caramel, too. It'll add great flavor, but it might not be distinct. You might do better to drizzle caramel on top of the balls.

WHAT brownie leftovers? You have got to be kidding! Brownies do not last in my house - not with me living here! icon_lol.gif

mkmolar - too funny - gave me a good loud laugh!

I thought of the same thing recently. Brownie balls. Had leftover (believe it!) brownies b/c I was doing cut outs and thought about rolling them into balls and dipping but then my kids ate all the scraps. I just use DH boxed brownie mix and do the fudgy recipe. They rolled up just fine into balls with no binding ingredient. Going to have to definitely try this. Sounds so yummy!

I made some of these this afternoon, and they are SOOOOO much better than cake balls! The brownie "holds up" better once mooshed all together. I also added some crushed up toffee chocolate chip cookies that I made this weekend, some extra toffee chips, and a little buttercream to hold it all together. I probably could have made them without the buttercream, but the brownies were a few days old, and starting to get a little dry, so I added it just for a little moisture. I dipped them in vanilla almond bark, and sprinkled toffee chips on top! They were a hit here, and no one in my family like the cake balls ata ll...neither did my three neighbors that I had try them!

I was just thinking that cake balls are like the rum balls I made a few times last year. Recipe in Martha Stewart's cookie mag. Basically you bake a brownie, crumble it up and add rum...I tried a batch with kahlua and wow!
