I am making a "present" cake for my moms 50th Bday and I am looking for some advice/tips on how to stack and support the layers. Thanks!

I've invented a thing to help me stack, although I haven't tried it yet. My biggest frustration was not the stacking but the centering. I buy dowel from Home Depot and wash it, I like a wider diameter than the wilton dowel rods. Put several into the layer. Then take a cake circle the size you are going to stack and gently press into the top so it is centered. Then try and lay the next layer onto the markings.

There are specific directions in the wilton yearbook if you have one.

If it's just the square present cake then you can just use McDonald's straws for support. That would work fine. Make sure you cut them all the same length & that you have a covered cake board in between the cakes~
