We Survived Our First Order! Please Critique...

I'm so excited this morning! My sister and I (she's my partner in crime with all this...lol) survived our first paid cake order! It was a baseball cake and we had a tough time with it. We started working on it at about 11pm, after a spaghetti dinner birthday party that was out my house, too. LOL at about 4am I thought we were doomed but at 5am all was done and we were very happy with the outcome - even though the baseball doesn't look ANYTHING like we had in our heads (it started out as a whole ball covered in fondant... the ball that is on the cake is what's left of it. haha!) 
This cake was for my husbands boss so there was a lot of pressure! But, my husband delivered it to her this morning and she was thrilled. She even gave us a $9.00 tip! I'm so happy because she has huge word of mouth potential and I know she'll be ordering all over her cakes (she has four kids) from us for now on. Our first real customer... YES! Anyway, there's a picture of it in my pictures... please let us know what you think! (please excuse the messy counter, I know it's a no no when you're taking cake pictures but it was LATE eeerrr.. EARLY! lol)
WELL DONE< its brilliant....it is nerve racking the FIRST paid customer is'nt it....I remember my first one I was a bag of nerves...even to the point of not being able to hand over the cake myself, I told my daughter to do it and to make sure she watched her face when she looked at the cake cos she may have been to polite to say if she didd'nt like, but her face would have given it away 
...but all was well, she even sent me a thank you card and recomended me to all her friends and family, I was over the moon.....that was many years ago and after a long break I'm back doing cakes and back is the nerves 
any way I'm so pleased for you and your success...you deserve it.

That looks like a fun cake ...congrats on your 1st paid order!!! It ALWAYS takes me longer than planned..partly because I have to see what is up on CC!!

Exactly, if I could stop looking through the galleries for ideas and get up and actually DO the cake, maybe it wouldn't take so long... HAHA!!
The cake looks great! Congratulations! By the way, I would not catergorize that counter as messy at all. You should see mine right now after the cake I just made. I'm taking a break before cleaning......Lol
HAHA! You should see the rest of the kitchen... it doesn't look half bad because my sister took her arm and literally swept the entire mess on the island as far back as she could for the picture. LOL oh well. guess I have to clean it up again so I can mess it back up.

I love that cake! I get totally nervous EVERY time I do a paid cake. I have to bite my tongue to not give excuses for anything that may even possibly be wrong with it. I just get completely freaked out...especially when I'm there for the serving of the cake....UGH!
