Here is the rugby ball with the double fondant. It was a big hit.. but as I make a soft sponge the bottom half of the ball was desperate to rest on the cake board. Anyhow the two tones of fondant did work but there were no comments from my children until the end product and then I received a WoW. Only then I knew it was OK but was very worried at one stage and would have prefered a rounder ball and perhaps next time I shal make a drier sponge for the bottom. All in all they were terribly happy with it. Thanks for everyones help.

Fab work! I had the same problem with the 3D sports ball, the bottom of the ball was decidely flatter, but I think yours looks great, not noticable at all!

A great job. So smooth work! When we are doing a cake we do worry about our work because we see it all the time and by the end of the project it doesn't have the WOW factor and we have probably had enough. When someone sees it for the first time it is WOW! Keep it up.
