Hello everyone...I am new to this site and new to cake decorating...I have not taken any classes and do not have time to right now...I started playing around and made a few cakes for friends for their birthdays. I have been watching a lot of Ace of Cakes and love how he makes his cakes. I went out today and got all the stuff to make my own fondant to try and do what Duff does...I made some little figures that are in my pictures for a cake I am doing this weekend. The fondant taste really good but I do not like how it looks like it is dried out and cracking...What can I do? Is fondant something I want to be using to make the little figures? Any help would be appricated! icon_biggrin.gif

You may need to add a bit of shortening to the fondant to keep it moist while you form the figures.

You need to add a little gumpaste and make sure that you knead and stretch your fondant for a good while before you start shaping it.

Hope that helps!
