Is It Safe?

I'm doing a wedding cake next weekend and the bride would like silver pearls around the bottom border of the cake. I'm not using buttercream icing, it's the whip n ice, so I know I can't use fondant. Is it safe to use the string of pearls you find at the craft store with the regular beads and such? Thanks!

I've seen it done before - after all, cakes can be wrapped in ribbon, so why not pearls? Just make sure they are clean, and that the facility knows not to serve them.

As long as you give specific instructions to remove the decorations. I usually put that at the top of the page with the cutting instructions.
