Im making some cupcakes for a work pot luck for Halloween. I have about 1/2 a sleeve of Chocolate Bavarian cream left, that I wanted to use for the cupcakes filling. Im trying to figure out what seasonal/Halloween type cake mix would work good with chocolate bavaraian cream? Spice cake? etc

Ideas pleaseee icon_smile.gif

No ideas? I don't want them to taste yucky and weird....

Maybe I just won't use the bavarian cream and do something like a cream cheese filling?

I personally am not partial to spice cake with chocolate, but that may just be me.

If you want to keep the Halloween theme going, how about some sort of white/yellow cake mix with orange food coloring. If you wanted to doctor the mix, you could add a box of caramel pudding mix and/or some caramel vanilla coffee creamer. Caramel and chocolate go well, IMHO.

I wouldn't pair spice cake with chocolate either.

Maybe a white cake with orange food coloring.

I didnt want the cake to be plain tasting though, don't want white or plain yellow mix etc... was hoping to do something more with the season, like using pumpkin spice creamer or something, spice cake etc,... I didnt think chocolate would work with spice cake-- I was just giving an example of what I wanted to do....

I think I'll just keep the bavarian cream and go with something else...

Any good cream cheese filling ideas? or other fillings that would go good with spice cake, or pumpkin spice, cinnamon etc??

But pumpkin and chocolate have been offered in recipes throughout Internetland for a couple of years now, and that is a spice based recipe.

You might consider adding some pumpkin to the batter.

I wanted something more seasonal... but when I mentioned this thread to Hubby and the ideas of banana w/ chocolate-- he was sold! hahaha So I guess thats it....

Banana cupcakes with chocolate bavarian cream filling.... does anyone do a banana cake mix? Or will I have to go White cake with banana pudding?
