Hi

Can anyone please advise what you can and cant post in the books we own.

I posted a couple of photos this morning from a book I have, Ive had a few responses from people whod like the recipes and want me to post the instructions on how to make whats in the book.

I am more than happy to do this but I am not sure about copyright laws etc (also CC etiquette!).

I dont want to get in trouble, upset anyone or cause the author of a book to lose out but I am happy to share what I have, just need to know and understand the rules.

Maybe a moderator could help me out?

Thanks
Kathryn

You would not be able to post pictures from the book onto this site. If you can explain, in your OWN words, how to manage a technique, it would probably be OK. If the picture and instructions belong to the author, it would not be OK to post them here.

If the author also had a website, you could post a link, but not the actual recipes/instructions copied from the book.

It would be better, and more respectful, to post the name of the book, and where someone could find it.

And just so you know (speaking as an attorney here), recipes are not copyrightable, so you're always free to post a recipe. The descriptive text *is* copyrighted, however. So any instructions need to be rewritten in your own words.
