Royal Icing For Cookies

I can not get the right consistancy for cookies to trim , it either runs into the next color or it has clumps. Help!!!!!!!! icon_cry.gif

I always let one color dry overnight before I do the detail work; so the colors never run. For the icing recipe, try Antonia74's. There is an article on this site about How to Bake and Decorate Cookies. Turns out every time. Good luck !

I wait at least a couple of hours before I outline. The royal really does need to set up. Once the shine is off, your probably not going to have any problems unless you accidently touch it. Not sure why it's lumpy. Do you sift your powdered sugar before mixing? That's the only thing I can think of that would cause the lumps.
