Beautiful job!! I did two weddings last weekend and I crashed for a couple of days! I totally admire you for taking on more than that!!!
Very nice job! Your sheet cakes look beautifull too. Do you have a close up of them? What are they made up of?
geesh, I'm counting the layers of cake and trying to compute just your baking time! Wow! Beautiful job on both of them!
Absolutely gorgeous!!! You did a wonderful job! I would be wiped out!!! I know this was very labor intensive and your work is seen in your beautiful cakes!!!
Now go take a break!!!!! ....and have some cake
I baked for like 2 weeks straight to get this weekend accomplished, but I'm almost there. All bride cakes are 3-4 layers per tier, sheets are 2 whole sheet in each (for 2 layer ea). I WISH someone would invent a sheet cake box that is more than !#%^@#^ing 4" deep. *sigh*
I have to go start a 6, 9, 12 for tomorrow (all baked), need to fill and fondant it, then pipe and hand paint a Colette design on it.........ow. My feet hurt, and I can't seem to get the energy to go back in the kitchen.
And I have a house ful of company coming tonight.
Sorry no closeups of anything...nothing that interesting, just plain scrolls on the one. The Celtic design on the others was, uh, best viewed from a distance, lol. It was SUPER hard to pipe and I wasn't thrilled with how it looked up close (of course I'm my own worst critic).
I'm in awe! You are amazing! Those cakes are gorgeous & to do them on the same weekend???!!! OMG! I'd collapse & die!
Beautiful cakes! I've been freaking out about a 3 tier that I still have one cake to bake for next weekend. I feel so silly!
Those cakes look great Congrats on a job well done and good luck with tomorrow's cake
So the sheet cakes are a 2 inch layer, filling, and 2 inch layer? How do you price them? They look like just as much work as your wedding cakes.
I looked at your photos and you seem to be the queen of sharp edges! Any tips on how you get such nice edges?
Yes, my sheets are two full 2" layers, filling between each, so they're over 4-1/2" tall when done and un-boxable...
I charge them 0.50 cents less per serving than my wedding cake prices, depending on what flavor they get, no less than $2.75 for basic though; they ARE as much work as wedding cakes.
Edges? Ha--they're not as great up close, and I LOVE top borders (whatever happened to those?), but IMBC is my friend, and I just pull the hot spatula across it from the edge towards the middle, and voila--beautiful edges. Don't know why I can't get it with reg BC, but I've quit using that stuff anyway...
Have a great weekend everyone...my company all just pulled in, the pizza's here, and I have a fondant Colette cake to finish, will post that tomorrow.
need more caffeine....
Your cakes are just gorgeous. You must be tired. Try to relax if possible, I mean after the one for today...
You did a wonderful job!
