Hey Everyone... I'm looking for 2 recipes:

1. Chocolate Donut Icing (has been called chocolate poured fondant). I LOVE the stuff! If anyone has a recipe similar to Dunkin' Donuts/Tim Hortons, please let me know! icon_biggrin.gif

2. Candy fruit filling... you know the ones in Pot of Gold that are Orange or Strawberry? My supplier of ready-made fillings that came in pre-filled piping bags has run out and they don't think they're getting anymore.

TIA icon_biggrin.gif

bulk barn used to sell a mix to make candy fillings. It just comes plain and you add whatever flavours you'd like. This was a while ago though!!! Where in Ontario are you if you don't mind me asking???

if you go into the recipe section, there is a chocolate icing recipe that posted not to long ago (there's also a thread about it that I can't find.. not good at that) that said it was the icing used for donuts, etc...... I think it is labeled as a chocolate glaze...

I make doughnuts with my kids all the time and we make a custard filled doughnut with chocolate icing and all I do is take some powdered sugar and cocoa powder in a bowl.....1part cocoa to 2 parts powdered sugar and add milk a tblsp. at a time until it's the consistency I want.......I usually make it thin enough that I can dunk the top of the doughnut in it and it adheres but still thick enough that when I flip them over the icing doesn't drip down the sides.....it's yummy......and it will form a sort of crust over it when you let it sit but it stays soft but not wet if you know what I mean....it's just like the stuff on the custard filled doughnuts in the stores.

Foodnetwork recently aired an episode of Good Eats where Alton Brown made this doughnut topping. You might try looking it up on the Food Network website, foodtv.com.

I think what you are looking for is powdered fondant. You add liquid, flavoring and color. You can either press into molds or roll into balls and then coat it with chocolate. You can also add nuts, fruit pieces or anything else you want. Hope it helps. Any cake or candy store usually has it. Wilton does make it.

I am in Orangeville...half hour north of brampton
That's it the mix that bulk barn sold was the powdered fondant. It worked well.
