Has anyone tried making there own marshmallows to make MMF?
What flavorings can you use to add flavors store bought marshmallows for MMF?
Ingredients for making homemade marshmallows:
cup cold water
unflavored gelatin
granulated sugar
light corn syrup
salt
vanilla extract
Ingredients for making homemade fondant (using collette's recipe as an example):
cold water
unflavored gelatin
powdered sugar
light corn syrup
flavorings (like vanilla)
(and I always add a wee bit of salt)
and glycerin
It's basically the same thing, except homemade marshmallows are WAY harder and fussier and messier to make. So why, oh why, would anyone ever go to the trouble to make homemade marshmallows and then convert it into fondant when it's essentially the same? Just make the fondant.
