I need to make walnuts for my fair cake..... What do you think? One is real one is 50/50!

OK - I cheated and saw the title of the cake!!!

However, it does look real and I think you did a great job!!! Make sure you post a photo when you've finished it!

How about the pistachios? Green ones (obviously) and the one in the middle are mine! I had to go find some real pistachios to compare and I think the green ones are way to dark! Yikes! What about the middle one??

Wow! If I had to guess I would say left is real, right is 50/50. But if you hadn't asked, I would think they were both real! Great job.

Do you guys think it would be okay to use the actual walnuts (inside part) with the fake shells? Or should I atempt a mold of the inner part too?

Ok I have to ask what this cake is going to look like. Your nuts are great but I am trying to picture a cake with them on it and I just cant do it. lol

Fair theme.... Harvesting Countywide pride! So I am putting Tulare County's top 10 Ag stuff on it! (Milk, oranges, cattle, grapes, alfalfa, corn, walnuts, almonds, plums, pistachios)

Okay now... Nobody from Tulare County take my idea.... Seriously! icon_lol.gif sort of....

the walnuts are exceptional! I say you can totaly use the real nut meat for the inside, it is edible after all and the shell is not- hence the gum paste, the pistachio in the middle is pretty close to perfect too. May need a little tweeking, like the seam mentioned, but really compaired to what most of us could do they both are out of this world! U R very talented and you should be proud, looking forward to the finished product. thumbs_up.gif

fantasitc job!!! it is toally hard to tell which is real and which is sugar.

Okay-- how about now? The one on the left is a real pistachio with my "shells" The other is fully 50/50. I just don't want to be disqualified for using the real nut! What do you think??

Well here it is!! Everybody at the fair was going crazy over it! I was so nervous on the way there that by the time I got there I felt like I was going to throw up! Major "stage fright"!!! Thanks again everybody!!
