I'm mrhockey, also known as DH of hockeygirl. After spending many hours in the kitchen with my wonderful wife, I've decided that I should just go ahead and set up my own profile here. What do they say..."If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!"

Wow . . . my DH would never in a zillion years do that. How cool of you!

My DH doesn't even eat the cakes that I bake. When I start the baking, he's usually on his way out of the kitchen. I think it's so cool that you and your DW share each other's interests.

In all fairness to my DH, he's into water polo and horses and I don't share those passions, either.

My DH participates by eating my creations...

Wow! what a great group of friendly people!
How'd we become Blues fans in Oregon? Well, I grew up in St. Louis, and I have been a loyal bleeder of blue since I was about six. Go Blues!

Hi DH, always happy to see a guy join us. I'm sure you can add your view of being on the other side of cake decorating. I think an awful lot of husbands are involved in cake deliveries and critiqueing ( Is there such a word) our cake work and don't get their due credit.

My brother -in-law does the play-by-play on the radio for the Blues . . . I am not at all a hockey fan but I am surrounded by them with the family I married into!

Welcome! My DH eats my cakes. He actually HELD a cake that I was making for him (my eduardo rice krispy dude) for about 3 hours while I fondanted him. It's okay......we were listening to a SABRES game! YEAH!!

We may have to start a new forum topic.....Hockey Night in Canada anyone? Or, (for us here who watch HNIC) What will Don Cherry Wear??? I'm a goalie (well, not anymore....I would die from lack of oxygen at this point!) But, once a goalie, always a goalie...it's a mentality!!

WELCOME!

Maybe we could have a hockey cake contest!

Welcome! It's really unusual for a DH to join his wife in the forum! (Are there any more out there?)
Like most husbands, mine eats cake, helps me deliver (sometimes) and ALWAYS finds fault with my cakes! Someone else said that and I tried to get the quote, but I don't know how.

ckkerber - Your brother in law... play by play! That sounds like the greatest job in the world! I'd love it. Not being a hockey fan is okay. Not alot of them in Oregon, but I'm sure I got that way from growing up around it in the early '70's.

Shirley W - Well, I was faced with joining myself, or losing my wife to the laptop. LOL. When I get caught up with work I'll post more... wait til you see my post about how autobody work and cake decorating have SO much in common!!

mmdd - Well now I have a problem! You said I can't post pix of my wife's cakes, yet I did at least half of the work on several of those! Oh well, I guess I'll have to find a reason to make more cakes, or steal the camera before she does next time. LOL

My brother-in-law definitely thinks it's the greatest job in the world . . . don't know that he was saying that LAST year with the strike but now that everything's back in full swing, he's back in his element. I did grow up around hockey (my brother played growing up) but I just could never get interested in it. Nor any other sport for that matter (I just spent most of the evening making a cake and cruising around on C.C. while the World Series went on in the other room! To me, the end score is really all that matters. I don't care how we got there . . . just happy that we DID get there!)

I hope for your wife's sake that you don't share a computer at home . . . I can't imagine having two people in one house vying for time on this site!

We actually have a hockey team right here in Shreveport/Bossier City, Louisiana!! They are called the Shreveport-Mudbugs!! NO lie!! They are pretty darn good too!!

Wow, autobody work & cake decorating have things in common? Cool, that sounds interesting to me!

I can believe it, I know airbrushing detail on cars is very similar to cakes. Or filling in small dents with compound would be like working with fondant on a cake.
