I do not own one because they are so expensive. However, the women that invente dit is a memeber of ICES in MA and I had a chance to try it and see it used. It looks great! With the extra blade you can cut stryfoam like its butter. When I have enough money to buy one I definatly will.
If you can afford it then buy it.

Hi, Karroticus!
I, too, would be interested in price + postage to Australia - maybe we should try and buy in bulk!

I bought one and had it shipped to the UK.

I WOULDN'T BE WITHOUT IT.

I love, love, love mine. Definitely the BEST investment (equipement-wise) that I've made.

I purchased mine from America and ended up paying $NZ343 but thought it was worth it. I use it on fruit cakes as well as soft cakes. The only thing is that I find if I am not careful as I cut the cake the middle of the blade seems to ride up a little with the pressure and my cake is not level. I find by doing one corner then the next and move in so far then the next corner until it almost meets in the middle and that way I get a better level cake. Does anyone else have that problem?

Hi, Thanks for this thread.I also am unhappy w/wilton slicer. I am originaly from Worcester Ma. now NC. My parents & sister live right up the street in Spencer Ma. from Agabay. Little did I know about this Place. I'm gonna ask her to run over there & see if they have any scratch & dent(you know hopefully a nick in the plastic handle). Thanks ccr's. Karen

Shipping to Aust is around $50, but i think thats before you convert currency.
gingerkitten79 What do you think of the one from Cake Deco. Can you take blades off so you only cut the top of your cake off?
Any info on this product would be great. icon_biggrin.gif

I have the single blade one, and I have to admit that after a few uses, I find it rides up in the middle in really heavy cakes. Sponges are probably okay, but I will try Briarview's idea of doing the corners each first and then going through the middle.
Thanks Briarview! thumbs_up.gif

However you use it, be really careful. I have heard more horror stories of people getting serious cuts and stitches from the cutter balde. Very sharp!

I have that problem sometimes. In addition to your idea, I've also learned that once you get close to the center, don't push as hard and make very long strokes (if possible) from side to side, angling the blade as you slice. E.g., when slicing to the left, angle the left side of the blade forward. Then, to the right, angle the right side of the blade, forward. This way, you're cutting the center a little at a time, lessening the chance of the blade riding up. (I hope that made sense!)

I wish I had already ordered one! I have a cake this weekend - a hexagon shaped cake - I think I'll end up just putting filling between the layers of each tier - and not actually torte the cake itself.... my hope is that it will be easier to stack and more structurally safe..... I hope! I hope it tastes good too though - I'd like more filling in it, but I'm afraid it will be soooo tall and w/out the Agbay, I hate torting......

So it's my very next purchase!!!

For all you who have had this awhile, does the blade dull after awhile? How much do replacements cost?

I thought mine was dull but it just needed a good clean on the VERY SHARPE EDGE. Don't ask how many band aids I went through cleaning that thing! Now I see that Agbay makes a cleaning insterment. I will be purchasing that.

Love my Agbay!

I love mine, it is worth the money. I had a garage sale and had more then enough money to buy. It is so much better then other cake cutters I have tried.

Have it, LOVE it! Before I bought it I couldn't imagine why everyone raved so about it. I have the delux and I swear it gets me out of the kitchen fast! I may torte 12-16 cake tiers in the evenings and it used to take forever.

The blade simply does not dull over time.

I bought a cut resistant glove (about $15) at my local restaurant supply store to have on one hand because I usually hold the cake steady with one hand on top. I got my fingers too close to the blade too many times and got cuts. Now with my special glove, no problems.
